This interesting variation of Tetris focus on destroy the glow points present in the stage using tetris dynamic so to proceed to the next level, emphasizing to do this in the shortest time possible. New games modes have been thought as well as more engaging and fair game mechanics. Among these:

  •  Hold mode (Also refered and Hold and Modfiy ;) ) :  You can see the next 3 pieces, and you can lock the 1st next piece for a better time to use it;
  • Swap mode : You can see the next 2 pieces and you can swap them at any time, before entering into play;
  • Classic mode: You can only see the next piece and you can only move/rotate the current piece on the board.

"One thing that I did miss when I was in my amiga years was a version of Flash Point - the tetris-based puzzle game - to play at home.

I loved this version but the closest arcade where it was located was 10 miles away from where i lived.

I did pitch the idea to the team that made powder but they were not interested.

After looooong time, i did try to recreate the game using flash in 2009 modifying an existing tetris flash game but then life went on the way and i lost the files.

Later on I did find a blitz pc tetris version. Had the idea to rework it and, with the help of cylon, a bare base working version was in the beggining, but then I was unable to go on and asked Hardwired to help.

He did recode almost all the base engine, added the flashpoint gameplay, implemented music and a good chunk of the graphics, while I did provide the base graphics, the levels and the soundtracks plus some testing.

This version is a one player only and has 99 levels (arcade similar).

In future more levels are planned, and also a level editor might be available."

Do bear in mind three things when playing GlowPoint:

  1. The idea behind the concept is not buidl pretty walls for multiple line clear. You can, but the primary objective is clearing the glowpoint position lines. Once done that you can go to next stage. Line clear does not award much points (2 per line), while you can get more with soft drops (moving the piece down).
  2. Do it in the least time possible and increase the score with bonus. Beat the stage time and get additional time bonus.
  3. Speed level is dynamic - it raises and lowers according your gameplay. Linger around and the speed level will rise, do line clears and it will lower.
  4. The game attempts to autodetect your input device, press the last button on your joypad / gamepad on startup screen to get better detection. It can be changed in Operator Settings (esc key). Also if you find your button to sensitive, you can change it on the settings.
  5. This fully supports PAL and NTSC, and it should play better on latter. But both are fun.
